Norfolkline invests in blast freezing & tempering at Larkhall

Norfolkline's custom built distribution centre in Larkhall, specialising in transportation services for the Scottish salmon and seafood industries, has recently been augmented by the addition of a blast freezing and tempering unit manufactured by Norfrig, one of the world's foremost refrigeration plant manufacturers.

This unit provides unrivalled quality control in all aspects of both freezing and tempering, with monitioring at two minute intervals, to ensure Norfolkline can deliver the best available quality of service to our customers.

Norfolkline Scotland is the largest provider of transportation services to the Scottish salmon and seafood industries with the main warehouse facility is located in Larkhall, near Glasgow (Scotland), which is supported by two satellite warehouses in Aberdeen and Boulogne Sur Mer, France.

The Larkhall facility is a custom built distribution centre comprising of 5000 square meters of chilled storage space, serviced by 24 loading bays. Uniquely, this facility also includes a state of the art cold store, with a 1600 pallet capacity, and from the site in Larkhall Norfolkline make daily deliveries to all major fish markets and distribution centers in the UK and Europe.

Augmenting the facilities already in place, Norfolkline Larkhall has recently purchased and installed a blast freezer and tempering unit.  As part of our commitment to providing value added services to customers, this custom built unit was identified as a key strategic objective at the start of the year for ensuring that Norfolkline Larkhall continue to improve and strengthen their position as the number 1 provider of transportation and warehousing to the Scottish Seafood market.

The unit enables the Larkhall site to freeze chilled products quickly down to minus 18 C for storage and or transportation over longer distances. The unit will also temper the products to bring them back to a chilled status in a controlled manner. The unit has a state of the art monitoring system that can be accessed from the internet to ensure 100% control of the operation.
