Norfolkline implement an environmentally friendly Terminal Operating System (TOS) on its Vlaardingen terminal

VLAARDINGEN, APRIL 16TH 2009

As of April 14th, Norfolkline has implemented a Terminal Operating System (TOS) in order to optimize various processes on its Vlaardingen Ro-Ro terminal.

The new system covers the entire chain of events in operations: from gate activities to vessel planning to the control of value adding services which Norfolkline provides to its customers.

By implementing TOS, the exact location as well as internal movements of all equipments at the terminal is registered instantly.

This enables Norfolkline to provide a safer and more efficient operation to its own personnel and external drivers because it is easier to locate equipments in the yard. TOS also enables Norfolkline to reduce CO2 emissions through fewer movements on terminal.

The ability to locate all equipments in yard further improves Norfolkline’s service profile towards its customers.  TOS effectively reduces the turnaround time of external drivers who visit the terminal to drop off and pick up equipment. This is yet another innovation which enables Norfolkline to become your preferred ferry partner.
