Irish Sea ferry vehicle types

The following vehicle type descriptions and passenger rules apply on our Liverpool - Belfast & Liverpool - Dublin routes:
Vehicle type Description
Cars*, MPVs and 4x4s
(up to 5m long and under 2.4m in height)

This vehicle type includes all standard car types including saloon cars, estate cars and 4x4s, with or without a roof box or a roof rack where the total height is under 2.4 metres high on the Belfast route and under 1.75m high on the Dublin route.
Standard fares include up to 2 passengers, with a maximum of 9 passengers allowed to travel with this vehicle type.

 

Vans and Minibuses
(up to 7m long and under 2.4 m in height)

This is a passenger vehicle under 2.4m in height.
Standard fares include up to 2 passengers, with a maximum of 9 passengers allowed to travel with this vehicle type.
Note: If the weight of the van is over 6.5 tonnes or is being used to transport goods for commercial gain then it will be classified as ‘freight’ traffic at check-in and the appropriate fare will be applied or travel may be refused and there may be no entitlement to refund.

 

Vans and Minibuses
(up to 7m long and over 2.4m in height)

This is a passenger vehicle over 2.4m in height.
Standard fare includes up to 2 passengers, with a maximum of 9 passengers allowed to travel with this vehicle type.
Note: If the weight of the van is over 6.5 tonnes or is being used to transport goods for commercial gain then it will be classified as ‘freight’ traffic at check-in and the appropriate fare will be applied or travel may be refused and there may be no entitlement to refund.

 

Motorhome
(up to 7m long, no height restrictions)

Motorhome up to 7m long with windows, sleeping and cooking facilities.
Standard fare includes up to 2 passengers, with a maximum of 9 passengers allowed to travel with this vehicle type.

 

Motorcycle

Standard fare includes up to 2 passengers, a maximum of 2 passengers are allowed to travel with this vehicle type.

 

 

Note: In addition to the above all maximum passenger figures are subject to legal carrying limits of the vehicle. 

Vehicle length

Vehicles over the length stated at time of booking will be charged an extra supplement at port.

Towing vehicles
