Norfolkline Donates £1,000 to Save the Children
Filling in questionnaires can sometimes seem like a chore, but for passengers on Norfolkline’s cross Channel ferries it will aid vulnerable children. For each customer service questionnaire completed by passengers on its Dover to Dunkirk crossing, Norfolkline will donate 20p to charity, with £1,000 given to a charity when 5,000 questionnaires have been completed.
Save the Children was selected as a beneficiary charity and Andreas Teschl, route director of Norfolkline’s ferry business on the English Channel, presented Lynn Whittaker from Save the Children with a cheque for £1,000. The presentation took place onboard one of Norfolkline’s cross Channel ferries in the Port of Dover. Captain Jesper, Norfolkline’s children’s mascot, and the ferry’s captain, Captain Burton also took part in the presentation.
Lynn Whittaker, community fundraising executive for London and the South East, said:
“We would like to thank Norfolkline for its donation. In the UK Save the Children is working to eradicate child poverty, which affects 1 in 3 children. Part of our work overseas is to respond to emergencies. In Haiti our response teams are working to bring life saving aid to the two million people affected by the earthquake. Every penny donated makes a significant difference to our work in this country and overseas.”
Andreas Teschl, route director of Norfolkline’s ferry business on the English Channel, said:
“We chose Save the Children as a beneficiary charity as we recognise the vital work it does with vulnerable children in this country and overseas, especially with the very distressing situation in Haiti.”
