IFA Excellence Programme supported by Norfolkline

Norfolkline are the official sponsor of the IFA Excellence Programme 2008/2009. The Excellence Programme is aimed at the top 780 boys and girls at under 11 through to under 15 age groups, which operates across the six counties. The programme has been running for the last two years and runs over two sessions, from September to December and February to May.

The aim of these centres is to help nurture and develop the best of the Province’s young players. There has been a lot of work from local councils, the IFA and Norfolkline to bring young people from all communities across Northern Ireland together. The Norfolkline-sponsored programme aims to support Northern Ireland’s young talent so they can compete on an equal footing with their counterparts on the mainland.

However, success is also measured on a more basic level. The structure of training and discipline provided by the programme has in turn provided the players with a much better knowledge of the game as well as an ingrained attitude towards good sportsmanship which the coaches expect them to carry on into their adult playing career and subsequently pass on to their own children.

And because the programme concentrates on talented young players, they too are focused and are determined to get the most from each session they partake in.  While probably more self-driven than most of their counterparts, they take full advantage of the quality coaching provided.
